Bombshell FT Report Reveals Russia Helping Iran Develop Supersonic Missiles

The Financial Times released its Wednesday cover story on Tuesday night, a bombshell report on Russia helping Iran to develop its own supersonic cruise missiles.

An FT investigations team revealed the “multiyear covert programme, codenamed C430L,” and called it one of the “most significant known transfers of strategic military technology from Moscow to Tehran.”

The report by Miles Johnson, Max Seddon and Charles Clover added that the covert program has “enlisted some of Russia’s most experienced missile specialists to help Iran develop a new class of weapon capable of threatening US aircraft carriers and other warships in the Middle East.”

Iran has launched several waves of missile attacks on Israel in recent years, following Israel-U.S. bombing campaigns against military targets in Iran. U.S. and Israeli missile defense systems have largely been able to intercept Iranian ballistic missiles, minimizing the damage and death toll from the attacks.

“The main purpose of C430L is to help Iran to develop a ramjet propulsion system, an engine that allows a cruise missile to sustain flight at several times the speed of sound. Missile and military experts said the technology was almost certainly intended for anti-ship and land-attack cruise missiles,” added the FT report.

Russia has been accused by various Western intelligence agencies of having helped Iran during the current conflict with the U.S. by providing satellite imagery to help locate U.S. troops and support for Iran’s drone fleet. President Donald Trump has both dismissed these claims and warned Russia to stop.
