Iranian State Media Claims US Military Bombed a Wedding During Latest Round of Strikes

Iranian media has accused the U.S. of bombing a wedding in a round of strikes Tuesday, The Associated Press reported.

The report read:

The U.S. military hit targets in Iran on Tuesday and Tehran fired missiles and drones in response as hostilities flare once again in an intermittent war that has lasted more than six months. One U.S. strike hit a home hosting a wedding, killing two people and wounding dozens, local officials said.

The U.S. resumed attacks on Iran on Sunday when its military targeted missile launchers in the Strait of Hormuz. The narrow waterway, through which a fifth of the world’s natural gas travels, has been the focal point of the conflict that began in late February. Iranian forces effectively shut the strait down, causing an energy crisis that has been felt across the globe.

President Donald Trump vowed to retake the strait, and has recently insisted that the U.S. was in full control of it. Traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, however, has yet to return to pre-war levels.

On Tuesday, the U.S. and Iran traded strikes in another major escalation of the conflict. The day before, Trump denied the suggestion that the resumed hostilities were a return to “full-scale war.”
