Vance Says He Had a Message for Team Behind New Trump Website: ‘Don’t Let It Be a Clusterf*ck’

Vice President JD Vance revealed he shared some words of wisdom with the team behind President Donald Trump’s new website: “Don’t let it be a clusterf*ck.”

Trump launched America.gov on Tuesday, describing the AI-powered portal as a “restoration of America’s promise and a reinvention for the 21st century and beyond.”

Later in the day, the vice president spoke to an audience in Washington, D.C. alongside Airbnb co-founder Joe Gebbia, who leads the White House’s National Design Studio.

Vance started by offering kudos on the site’s release, telling Gebbia, “Congratulations to you and your team.”

Then, though, he admitted, “When Joe and I first started talking about this, the one thing I said is, ‘Don’t let it be a clusterf*ck like America.gov.'”

Yet the vice president mistakenly used the name of the president’s current site, drawing laughter from the audience, before correcting himself — but not before first apologizing for cursing.

“Oh, whoops. Sorry. Excuse me. Hopefully no kids in the back,” he said of his profanity before realizing his previous blunder. “Or excuse me, like HealthCare.gov, and America.gov has gotta be the good version of that, and I think you guys have done an amazing job, so give it up to Joe and his team.”

HealthCare.gov launched under former President Barack Obama in 2013 as the federal website for Americans to shop for health insurance plans. Its rollout was plagued by major technical problems, including crashes and long wait times.

America.gov, on the other hand, has already generated some potentially awkward results for Trump. The portal has contradicted several of the president’s frequent claims, including by stating that former President Joe Biden won the 2020 election, rejecting Trump’s assertion that the U.S. currently has its “best economy” ever, and disputing his claims about falling grocery prices, record employment, and $21 trillion in foreign investment.
