Tucker Carlson All But Endorses ‘Trumpian’ Democrat Abdul El-Sayed: ‘I Wouldn’t Vote for Mike Rogers at Gunpoint’

Tucker Carlson praised Dr. Abdul El-Sayed, the Democratic Senate nominee in Michigan, calling the candidate’s agenda “literally Trumpian.”

El-Sayed prevailed in last month’s Democratic primary over Rep. Haley Stevens, despite being outspent nine-to-one, thanks in large part to more than $30 million in ad buys from the American Israel Public Affairs Committee. He has pledged to oppose continued U.S. aid to Israel.

El-Sayed’s Republican opponent is former Rep. Mike Rogers, who chaired the House Intelligence Committee and has been a fervent supporter of Israel. Given Americans’ increasingly negative views of Israel, Rogers’ campaign is reportedly concerned about AIPAC spending money on its behalf.

On Wednesday’s Tucker Carlson Show, the host spoke with Saagar Enjeti, co-host of Breaking Points, where the two discussed, among other topics, the race in Michigan.

“I wouldn’t vote for Mike Rogers at gunpoint,” Carlson stated.

Enjeti responded by noting that Rogers lost a Senate race to Democrat Elissa Slotkin in 2024, despite Donald Trump carrying Michigan that year.

“And so that’s the candidate,” Enjeti said. “A literal loser who lost when Donald Trump won the state, just to show you how much of a headwind he had at his back.”

“He’s basically a tool of Israel and the intelligence agencies, Carlson replied. “How would you run someone like that? I don’t– it doesn’t even make sense.”

Enjeti went on to call El-Sayed “a full-blown leftist,” and pointed to the candidate’s past statements about defunding the police and opposing football. However, Enjeti said he has “watched his ideological evolution” and lauded El-Sayed’s campaign:

ENJETI: I watch his campaign now, it’s America First. The amount of times he says– when he talks about Israel, he says, “Israel is committing a genocide, but ultimately I want to make sure that you don’t pay more for healthcare. I don’t want your tax dollars going abroad to fund this barbaric military.” He stands in front of a giant American flag. It’s almost Trumpian in terms of a lot of those problems.

CARLSON: Well, it is literally Trumpian.

ENJETI: Exactly. And so, you see candidates like that, especially him. He will be the most interesting test case come November.

CARLSON: Is he going to win?

ENJETI: If I had to bet, which I don’t, I would probably bet that he’ll win.

CARLSON: I would think so.

ENJETI: I think so too.

CARLSON: Not to fix it on poor Mike Rogers, who I know, but I mean, there’s no one who should be farther from a position of power than Mike Rogers. How did he get the Republican nomination for Senate?

ENJETI: I looked into it. It was relatively uncontested. He had both– he had the most backing of the Michigan GOP, which of course, very in touch with their own voters.

CARLSON: Mike Rogers?!

ENJETI: So, they just decided to go with– and again, this is the guy who lost to Slotkin when Donald Trump was able to win the state. And so they can cry about vote-rigging and all that as we want. Ok, whatever. But we all know that this is not a strong candidate in a wave year, which just happened. And they decided to nominate him literally yet again. Genuinely shocked.

CARLSON: He was the AIPAC candidate, to be clear. And he’s told AIPAC not to advertise in public for him.
