Trump Straight Up Says Ilhan Omar ‘Could Go to Jail’ Amid DOJ Probe, Calls Somalia a ‘Sh*thouse’

President Donald Trump declared that Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) “could go to jail” amid his administration’s investigation into the Minnesota Democrat, launching into a vicious tirade against the congresswoman and her native Somalia.

“If there is a problem with Ilhan Omar’s age, could she be deported?” a reporter asked Trump in the Oval Office on Tuesday.

“She could be. She could also go to jail,” Trump said. “They keep talking about deportation. No, she could go to jail.”

He continued:

This is just my opinion — I think she’s a sick, very dishonest person who hates our country, and she comes from a country that essentially is not even a country. Somalia. It’s a real sh*thouse, okay? It’s got no government. It’s got no police protection. All they do is have people running around shooting each other. Then she comes over here, and she says — and she wants to tell us how to run America. She wants to tell us how to run the United States of America. And she’ll say, “Oh, I have constitutional rights.” And she never heard the word. She never saw that before. See that? She never saw that before.

But she says she has rights. She’s a disgrace to our country, and it’s amazing that she can get elected, but Somalians vote for her. You know, Somalians vote for her. Most of ’em shouldn’t be here. Did you know they have, like, a 98% unemployment rate? They don’t work. 98%. It’s a disgrace. It’s a disgrace, and they’ve ruined a great state. You know, you have a great state. I remember Minnesota in the old days. What a beautiful — with lakes all over the place. They had more lakes than any place I’ve ever seen. So beautiful. They’re destroying it. Probably, maybe they’ve destroyed it, and I only hope a Republican woman who happens to be very respected by everybody gets in because you will see a difference, but I will say this — I hope they treat her fairly, but I think she’s a very dishonest person.

The wild remarks come amid a federal investigation into whether Omar or her late father misrepresented her age on immigration paperwork when her family came to the U.S. from Somalia in the 1990s. Federal agents raided the congresswoman’s Washington, D.C., home last week, seizing her passport, cellphone, and computers as investigators seek to build a case to strip her of her citizenship.

Omar has denied any wrongdoing and accused the Trump administration of “political intimidation.”
