Trump Says He’s Secured ‘U.S. Control’ of Venezuelan Oil in ‘BIGGEST OIL DEAL IN WORLD HISTORY’

President Donald Trump announced Friday that the United States has reached what he called “THE BIGGEST OIL DEAL IN WORLD HISTORY” with Venezuela, claiming the agreement gives the U.S. majority control over more than 65 billion barrels of the country’s proven oil reserves.

Trump said in a Truth Social post that Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth worked with Venezuelan interim President Delcy Rodriguez and private businesses to secure the agreement “at no cost to the American Taxpayer.”

The president claimed the deal would “MORE THAN DOUBLE” U.S. oil reserves, boost the country’s supply, and drive down gas prices for Americans.

BREAKING NEWS: The United States of America has just entered into an Agreement with the Country of Venezuela on, THE BIGGEST OIL DEAL IN WORLD HISTORY! At my direction, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, working closely with Highly Respected Interim President of Venezuela, Delcy Rodriguez, and, through a partnership with private business, have secured majority U.S. control of more than 65 BILLION BARRELS of proven Oil Reserves in Venezuela, at no cost to the American Taxpayer. This Historic Transaction MORE THAN DOUBLES American Oil Reserves, greatly increases our Oil Supply, and will substantially lower Gas Prices for all Americans, long into the future, while helping to continue to set Venezuela on a course toward Tremendous Success and Great Prosperity. The announcement comes nearly nine months after U.S. special forces captured Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro in January and brought him to the United States, where he remains jailed in New York while facing federal drug trafficking charges. Rodriguez, who served as Maduro’s vice president, subsequently took over as interim president and has since cooperated with the Trump administration.

Trump has openly boasted about taking Venezuelan oil since Maduro’s capture. At a Las Vegas rally earlier this month, the president said “billions and billions of barrels of oil” were coming out of Venezuela and argued that the U.S. had already recouped the cost of its military operation “many, many, many times.”
