Trump Commends Rally-Goer for Punching Heckler: ‘He Got Whacked!’

President Donald Trump faced multiple hecklers during a rally in Clemson, South Carolina, on Wednesday, at one point commending a supporter who appeared to punch a protester, declaring, “He got whacked!”

To the first hecklers, Trump repeated a line he’s used in similar situations at recent rallies, calling them “paid protesters,” and adding that they “go home and mom slaps them around.”

At the second interruption, after a protester yelled out, the president said, “What was that noise I just heard? You know, you like just to power through that stuff, but that was a loud, horrible, disgusting sound. I didn’t know what was wrong with that person.”

The third interjected during Trump’s comments about the late Sen. Lindsey Graham and his sister, Sen. Darline Graham (R-SC), whose campaign the president is in South Carolina to support.

“It’s always right at my punchline!” Trump complained. “They time ’em beautifully. These people are serious losers.” He joked about another interruption as he tried to continue, which he spoke into existence — twice.

More protesters were then physically removed from the venue, with the president emphasizing, “Most of them are from different parts of the country, by the way. They’re not from here. It’s all paid for. They’re a bunch of fakers. They’re terrible people.”

The punch, though, came as Trump was talking about immigration.

“Wow, thank you!” the president said as police rushed in to restrain a Trump supporter who had apparently hit a protester. “That was great.”

Police escorted the protester out, while the man who threw the punch appeared to remain inside.

“Wow. Man, I love — I watched that,” Trump continued. “That was unbelievable. Is everybody okay? Who’s the guy that threw that punch? Who threw that punch?”

The president added, referencing former professional boxer Evander Holyfield, who attended the South Carolina rally:

Who was the guy that threw the punch? You reminded me of Evander “The Real Deal” Holyfield. No, the guy stood up, and he just let that little — and he got whacked! Man! They don’t realize it’s really dangerous to do that. You gotta give ’em credit. It takes courage to do that at a Trump rally. He got whacked! He started that, you know, screech. Whatever the hell they do, and as he’s in the process of the screech, he got whacked! Evander, he wants your autograph, that man.
