Trump Claims Democratic Candidate ‘Eats Meat’ and Then ‘Throws Up All Over the Place’

President Donald Trump bizarrely claimed Wednesday that Texas Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico “eats meat” only to “throw up all over the place” afterward.

The president made the declaration to a crowd of Republican lawmakers in the White House Rose Garden during a dinner event.

Conservatives have long attempted to tear down Talarico, also a Texas state representative, by calling him a vegan, citing resurfaced video in which he claims it is “existential” to “reduce our meat consumption.”

Talarico, however, has repeatedly dismissed the rumors as false, with his campaign even sharing a photo of the candidate eating barbecue in March.

Nevertheless, dubbing the state representative “Tala-creep-o,” Trump said Wednesday, “Now he says he loves meat. You know what he does? He eats meat, and he goes outside, and he throws up all over the place.”

The president also was sure to reference Talarico’s scandal-plagued Republican opponent, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton.

Despite calls from Republicans, including Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) and Fox News contributor Karl Rove, for Trump to deploy his MAGA Inc. war chest on Paxton’s behalf, the president repeated a curiously backhanded endorsement of the Republican candidate on Wednesday.

He’s made similar remarks twice already today — once in a podcast episode and once in the Oval Office.

“You might not like the way he dresses,” Trump said at the Rose Garden event. “It’s so insulting to him, but I might as well say it. You might not like the way he looks. You might not love his look. You might not love his television interviews. But he was the best attorney general in the country, perhaps. He was one of the best in the entire country, and that speaks a lot louder than the suit he’s wearing that doesn’t look so great.”

Notably, Trump endorsed Paxton over Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) in the state’s Senate Republican primary, a decision Rove said ultimately won him an election he otherwise would have lost.

Cornyn, meanwhile, told The Texas Tribune last week that he doesn’t plan to campaign for Paxton, adding, “He’s lazy and doesn’t raise money.”

“Talarico is everywhere,” Fox News host Martha MacCallum observed in her Tuesday conversation with Thune. “He’s got $21 million versus Ken Paxton’s, I think, one or two million.”
