Sean Hannity Reflects on Infamous Katie Zacharia Interview: ‘I Just Expected a Different Answer’

Sean Hannity waxed poetic about the now infamous interview with fired White House Press Secretary Katie Zacharia that was believed to have directly led to her firing after just a week on the job.

Speaking with Fox Senior White House Correspondent Peter Doocy Friday night on Hannity, the anchor discussed the widely covered chat with Zacharia, in which he grilled the struggling press secretary after her dismal debut at the briefing room podium just days earlier.

Less than 24 hours after the well known Trump fan put Zacharia through the wringer, she was gone.

“A lot of people talk about her being on the show last night, I just assumed after three days she would want an opportunity to put it to rest,” Hannity told Doocy.

“And I just — I. Assumed otherwise if she went back in the briefing room having not addressed it in her own way, I felt like it gave her an opportunity to do that, that it would be all consuming in her next briefing. So I figured you know, let’s hear what she thought about for three days, what she thinks. But we will see what happens. Peter Doocy, we appreciate it, thank you,” he said.

Doocy was quick to assure Hannity about the interview.

“And I just want to say, you had a lot of really straightforward questions that could have had straightforward answers,” he said.

Hannity added, “I mean I felt — I. Just expected a different answer last night, personally. Anyway, we wish everybody the best.”

The California mother of four, 41, was shaky in her initial Tuesday briefing, speaking for just 14 minutes and taking only three questions from friendly outlets.

She also came under fire after it became clear she’d never passed the bar exam despite President Donald Trump describing her as an attorney.
