Bannon Admits He Would Destroy Any Democrat For Creating a Database of Americans Like Trump’s
Former White House strategist Steve Bannon acknowledged Sunday that if a Democratic administration were pursuing a data aggregation project like President Donald Trump’s administration has undertaken with Palantir, his show would open every day with it.
Bannon made the comments in an interview with Chuck Todd, where he was pressed on the use of Palantir software across federal agencies to compile data on American citizens.
“I think everybody’s got to take a step back,” Bannon said, referencing recent reports on the subject. “Some of the Palantir stuff that’s going up now – the MAGA base is not happy.”
Todd responded, “Let me tell you about this Palantir stuff. If a Democratic administration had done this, where would your level of outrage be?”
Bannon replied, “I think War Room would open every show about it. We’re pretty upset about it.”
The two were referring to concerns over Trump’s expansion of a data-sharing initiative that relies heavily on Palantir, a controversial data-mining firm co-founded by billionaire investor Peter Thiel.
A New York Times investigation published last month revealed that Trump’s executive order in March to streamline data sharing across federal agencies had given Palantir a role within the government.
Since Trump took office, Palantir has received over $113 million in federal spending, not including a recent $795 million Department of Defense contract. Its Foundry platform, capable of organizing and analyzing massive datasets, is now used by at least four federal agencies, with more expected to follow.
The program’s scope includes efforts to merge databases across the IRS, Social Security Administration, ICE, and the Department of Education, raising alarm among privacy advocates, former Palantir employees, and Democratic lawmakers.
Critics have said Trump could weaponize personal data, including financial records, immigration status, medical claims, and disability benefits.
The Times reported, “Some current and former Palantir employees have been unnerved by the work. The company risks becoming the face of Mr. Trump’s political agenda, four employees said, and could be vulnerable if data on Americans is breached or hacked.”
