Trump Says Katie Zacharia Will Stay in the Admin: ‘Maybe in a More Pleasant Form’
President Donald Trump insisted Friday that White House Press Secretary Katie Zacharia would remain in the administration after being fired.
White House sources confirmed to Fox News that Zacharia was out as Press Secretary after less than a week on the job. That reporting came just minutes after the president spoke with the press outside the White House and revealed he was having second thoughts about the hire. He even went as far as telling her to reconsider the gig, framing it as an effort to spare from the hostility of the media.
Moments later, Trump said that didn’t think Zacharia “should be made to suffer like she’s suffering at the hands of the press.” A reporter then asked if the Zacharia “would continue to be in the administration” even if she stepped down as Press Secretary.
“Could be, yeah, could be,” Trump said. “Would she stay in the– yeah, in some form. Maybe a more pleasant form.”
Zacharia’s tenure got off to a disastrous start due to her performance in her first White House briefing Tuesday. Amid that wave of criticism, many began looking into her claims that she was a lawyer who practiced in China. It was later revealed that although she did have a law degree from Pepperdine University, she never passed the bar exam and was not licensed anywhere in the U.S.
