Trump Asks Why US Takes Immigrants From ‘Sh*thouse’ Countries Like Somalia: ‘Why Not Denmark?’
President Donald Trump would like a few more Scandinavians to become Americans.
The president vented during a Saturday rally in Perry, Georgia that he recently asked 10 Democratic Senators why the bulk of the USA’s immigrants have to come from non-European countries.
“I say, ‘Why do we always have to take people from sh*thouse countries?'” Trump told the crowd. “Why can’t we take people from like, well, Norway? Uhh, Sweden? Uhh, why not Denmark?”
That remark made a few people chuckle in the crowd, while one fella let out a loud “Yeah!”
Trump then pivoted to championing Denmark for a moment, saying they “gave us Greenland.”
“You do know that? You don’t read about it. We’re working with them very closely,” Trump said.
As for the “sh*thouse” countries he was talking about, Trump said a prime example was Somalia. He said the East African nation is littered with scammers, so it makes no sense for the U.S. to bring them over.
“You know, 98% of the people that we have here [from] Somalia don’t work — they don’t really have to work because they steal so much. They all have a Mercedes-Benz,” Trump said. “Can you believe [it], low IQ and they live better than you do. Maybe they’re not as low as we think.”
If this all sounds familiar, Trump said last December he would like to see the country allow in more Scandinavian immigrants. Around that same time, Trump said he did not want more Somalis like Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) moving to the States.
“They contribute nothing. I don’t want them in our country, I’ll be honest with you,” Trump said. “Some will say that is not ‘politically correct.’” I don’t care. Their country is no good for a reason.”
Shortly after he made the comment, federal prosecutors claimed a $9 billion “industrial-scale” fraud scheme was orchestrated in Minnesota, with the “vast majority” of culprits coming from Minnesota’s Somali community.
On Saturday evening, Trump mocked his longtime nemesis as her fraud probe heats up. Trump posted a meme with Omar’s face on a iPhone screen that warned a “Scam Likely” call was coming in.
