Right-Wing Radio Star Warns AOC Is ‘Formidable’ 2028 Contender: She’s an ‘Attractive’ Face for the ‘Street Communists’
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) is looking good in more ways than one, according to Buck Sexton.
The right-wing radio star — during the Wednesday episode of the The Clay Travis & Buck Sexton Show — argued AOC is a real threat to Republicans in the 2028 presidential race because she has publicly distanced herself from her most extreme hard-left stances. And there’s another reason she has a great shot: she’s not ugly.
That combo will help AOC sell the Democratic agenda to the American public, he argued.
“You are going to have an attractive, smiling face telling you why your property is not yours and you should be sent to the gulag, basically,” Sexton said. “You’re going to have somebody who is appealing in public, and to the masses, pushing for the exact same policies of the street communists, but doing it with more Mamdani-esque flair.”
Sexton added AOC has “learned to be less shrill” and has become “the face of a rebranded woke” — a description which comes a month after AOC shrugged off once-fashionable leftist ideas like abolishing prisons and defunding the police.
“Woke 1 was crazy!” Ocasio-Cortez quipped during an interview on ABC’s This Week. The comment went viral immediately after.
Ocasio-Cortez argued during the same interview people should get a pass for those ideas now because the COVID-19 pandemic made everyone a bit kooky.
Sexton said it showed AOC has smartly moved a bit more to the center, at least publicly, and made her a great Dem candidate for ’28.
His co-host, Outkick founder Clay Travis, agreed.
“AOC scares me more than Kamala [Harris] does,” Travis said.
Sexton went on, saying AOC was “far more formidable” than the ex-vice president, thanks in large part to her not being a “loser.”
They shared their takes on the same day the Wall Street Journal wrote the hosts — who replaced Rush Limbaugh after his death in 2021 — are “dominating” talk radio. Clay & Buck reaches seven million listeners each month across 550 stations nationwide, according to the report.
Meanwhile, Ocasio-Cortez has been in the news even more than usual lately, following her August announcement she was freezing her eggs; TMZ reported a few days later she had broken up with her longtime fiancé.
The extra headlines seemed to help AOC nationally, with the 36-year-old liberal becoming the betting favorite to win the ’28 Dem nomination right after.
