JD Vance Slips Up and Tells Newsmax Host Trump Has Made ‘American Streets Less Safe’

Vice President JD Vance slipped up in a recent Newsmax interview when he declared President Donald Trump made “American streets less safe.”

Vance appeared in a sit-down interview with Newsmax host Greg Kelly on Monday. While discussing the shortcomings of previous presidential administrations, Vance mistakenly claimed that Trump made the country less safe.

He quickly corrected himself, saying:

I go back to, fundamentally, I think Barack Obama — unique among presidential candidates in my lifetime until Donald Trump came along — had a mandate to do something big.

And what he did, fundamentally, is that he doubled down on the failed policies of the past.

This is a guy who took 40 years of offshoring American jobs, replacing Americans with foreign labor, of fundamentally making America streets less safer, and decided with a historic mandate, “Let’s do more of that rather than let’s go in the other direction.”

And until Donald J. Trump came along, I’ve never seen a president with that kind of a mandate.

Luckily, President Trump has used that mandate to make American streets less safe– or has used that mandate to make American streets more safe, and has actually cut down on foreign replacement of American jobs.

Although Kelly is generally a friendly face for the Trump administration, he’s made it clear he’s no fan of Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.

The Newsmax host has repeatedly torched Hegseth for his rhetoric, calling the secretary “insecure” and claiming his “trash talk” was better served on a podcast. He’s also explicitly said Hesgeth “doesn’t belong on the job.”

Vance had another notable, recent slip of the tongue during a recent speech in which he referred to the far left as the “fart left.”

“I usually don’t misspeak, but I just called them the fart left, not the far left. I promise that was an accident,” Vance said.
