‘I’m Really Worried!’ Ted Cruz Rattles Off a Long List of States Where Dems Can Win Senate Battles

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) warned his fellow Republicans the midterms could get real ugly because he can easily picture Democrats winning a number of key Senate races — including in his home state.

The Texas conservative rattled off nine states where he thinks the Dems can topple the GOP and take control of the Senate during a Tuesday podcast with ex-Trump press secretary Sean Spicer.

“[With] the Senate, I’m really worried,” Cruz admitted. “North Carolina, the numbers are rough, Georgia the numbers are rough, but we have very competitive races in Maine, Iowa, Ohio, Alaska, Nebraska, Kansas, Texas. I mean, all of those races are within a couple of points of each other. So it — I hope it’s not — but it could be a really rough election.”

He said he is actually more worried about the Dems flipping the Senate — where they need change four seats to get the advantage — than the House, despite most reports and polls saying the reverse is more likely. Spicer agreed.

“The math, when you look at where the House is… we’ve got 212 [seats] in the bank. We only need 6 of 19 toss-ups,” Spicer said.

Cruz continued talking about his anxiety over the Senate by pointing out James Talarico (D) leads Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) in most polls. He said one thing he’s especially concerned about is Paxton being at -15 when it came to his net favorability.

“It turns out $200 million of attack ads, that leaves a mark,” Cruz said.

He then said Talarico, on the other hand, is at +9 net favorability.

“Oh my gosh!” Spicer yelped.

“”That differential is a problem,” Cruz said.

Cruz said the “good news” for Republicans was Talarico is a “woke, left-wing zealot,” which he said many Texans don’t truly grasp yet. He said the GOP needs to hammer that point over the next two months.

Still, he’s not the only Republican who is smashing the panic button on the midterms. President Donald Trump on Wednesday argued Republicans are doomed to “never, ever” win another presidential election if they lose the midterms — a fate which would put the USA straight on the road to “hell,” he said.

Trump said Texans have to do their part by making sure “freako” Talarico doesn’t win.
