‘Gross and Distasteful’: Critics Slam Trump WH Deportation-Themed Video Games

President Donald Trump’s White House sparked condemnation this week after releasing a website with 5 mock video games, some of which mocked deportations of migrants.

The White House-branded page, whitehouse.gov/arcade.gov, includes links to the games, which as of Friday were named “Rio Run” and “Build the Border Wall.” Three other games are about Trump accounts, bald eagles, and healthy school lunches. Reports noted that the two games about immigration were originally titled “Protect the border from the coming horde” and “Border Patrol along the Rio Grande.”

The immigration games show brown cartoon characters from border agents, which the player gets to control in order to catch them. The White House shared a link to the games with a clip and a caption that read, “CAN’T STOP WINNING. Build the wall. Deport. Fill a Trump Account.”

Conservative commentator Meghan McCain shared the White House’s preview clip for the game and wrote, “This is so gross and distasteful.”

The official account for Tetris, which one of the games appeared to be based on, wrote on X, “At Tetris we believe in the power of connection and bringing people together, not dividing them. To our fans everywhere: we love you, we see you, and we’re grateful to have you in our community.”

The account added, “P.S. The Tetris Company was not involved in the creation of ‘Build the Wall’. P.P.S. We take copyright infringement very seriously.”
