Even Kamala Harris’ Own Husband Doesn’t Want Her to Run for President

Even the man who should be Kamala Harris’ biggest cheerleader doesn’t want her to run for the White House in 2028.

Douglas Emhoff has allegedly told people privately that he “would prefer” his wife not mount another bid for presidency, after her sprint effort to succeed then-President Joe Biden ended in a humiliating defeat to Donald Trump which saw the Republican take all seven swing states.

The Wall Street Journal reported Saturday that Emhoff, 61, “has privately told some people he would prefer she didn’t run.”

But, the outlet noted, if the 61-year-old Harris chooses to run for nation’s top office again, Emhoff would fall in line:

Many Democrats, including some who remain close to her, think the party needs to put forward a fresh candidate in the 2028 election. Unlike in 2024, when the party coalesced around Harris in the aftermath of Biden’s exit, she is expected to face a crowded field if she were to run again.

Harris’s husband, Doug Emhoff, is among those who have shared concerns with others about another run, though people close to him expect he will support her if she decides to run.

The former vice president has yet to decide if she will attempt another presidential campaign, The Journal reported.

Donors have also expressed their concerns about a third Harris run, The Journal said.

Harris was thrust into an historic presidential campaign in 2024 when Biden suddenly dropped out, giving her just 107 days to run for the nation’s top office amid controversy that she had not been through the primary process.

The Democrat has made moves toward another campaign, including hiring staff, traveling to battleground states and communicating with major donors — though publicly she’s focused on the midterms.

“I have not decided if I’m going to run again,” she said at an event last month. “I do sincerely believe ’28 won’t matter if we don’t get through ’26.”
