Bill O’Reilly Warns Republicans They Have a ‘Major Problem’ in Texas

Bill O’Reilly warned the Republican Party it isn’t looking good in Texas, with several polls showing Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico leading President Donald Trump’s preferred candidate, state Attorney General Ken Paxton (R).

“This is a major problem for the GOP,” O’Reilly wrote on his website on Monday morning.

He said it’s a bad sign Talarico is ahead of Paxton despite Trump’s endorsement, which has remained a strong stamp of approval for conservative voters midway through the president’s second term. Trump-endorsed candidates this year have won 96% of their primaries, according to Ballotpedia. Paxton was one of those 315 Trump-approved candidates who won their primaries earlier this year, when he beat incumbent Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX), but O’Reilly said he now faces a stiffer test.

Still, O’Reilly offered a bit of optimism for right-wingers: “Despite the polling, the Republicans are actually getting a break because James Talarico is a nut.”

But his final comment on the race sounded a bit dejected about the state of politics in 2026:

Here’s the truth: It doesn’t really matter which person you vote for, because the parties, not the candidates, are in control. Leadership now dictates what its members say and do.

If the Democrats want to pretend there are four genders, that’s it. If you dissent, they cut off your money.

That’s the game; that’s where we are. And both parties play it.

The former Fox News star shared his take as a number of recent polls have shown Talarico has the edge on Paxton heading into November, even in several Republican districts.

Trump has been hitting the panic button on Texas heading into the midterms, with the president warning earlier this month if the state turns Blue, he “will be the last Republican president and our country will live in hell!”

To help make sure that doesn’t happen, the MAGA Inc. super PAC recently poured $10 million into ads boosting Paxton. And something else which has stood out recently: Trump has repeatedly criticized Paxton for the way he dresses — but Trump insists he remains a better option for the Lone Star State, in spite of his poor fashion sense.
