Infanticide ‘Privilege?!’ Oprah Hosts a Troubling Pro-Lindsay Clancy Conference
A pro-Lindsay Clancy conference, really?! Oprah, what are you doing? We get that your neighbors, Prince Hank and his wife, cleared out for England, but you do not need to go here!
As the nation continues to swirl downward in the wake of the Lindsay Clancy trial, the mental disturbance on display only seems to coarsen. There are battalions of trial-watchers who are standing in solidarity with the woman who admittedly eliminated her family, and with Oprah, things are getting worse.
The talk show hostess staged a seminar with women in attendance, and except for maybe one lone holdout, (not the juror, by the way), the room was in support of the mother who killed her children.
It is one thing to explore the mental and emotional toll on Clancy and how it could have contributed to her behavior, but to join arms en masse and stand vigil for the woman who committed a heinous act is championing her actions. And we see this is the case with the words of one attendee, (at about the 1:26:00 minutes mark in the video), who is an obstetrician and gynocologist.
She promotes that we need to expand our understanding and sympathy for others who have committed similar heinous attacks on their children, but are not the same race as Lindsay Clancy. Yes – it is suggested that race is a factor in the sympathy. We need to expand our support for Black mothers who may have killed their children.
“I want us to have the same passion for people who don’t look like Lindsay. Who don’t have the same access, and education, her melanin, her privilege. There are women of color sitting around this country in prisons for this same thing we never heard of. I just want to remind us to have the pink shirts and the energy for them as well.
Unreal, and the audience applauded this thinking. Invoking skin color and “privilege” in the discussion of this trial is beyond absurd; this woman is calling for the same level of social support for Black women who have killed their kids and are in prison. This is not what we should be doing.
We are watching the mainstreaming of those who regularly take to social media with unhinged displays of imbalanced sociopathy. They film themselves as they unravel without the aid of a therapist’s futon, and earn digital acclaim that emboldens the emotional delirium. Now white women who child their children are operating with privilege?!
In another portion, (approximately at 54:30), as attendees spoke on the topic, one woman displayed no sympathy over this trial. She spoke of Clancy committing these killings and said that at some point a realization should have come over her. “I don’t understand we can empathize with somebody…they weren’t strangers, they were her kids.” This sane position was clearly an outlier, as heard when Oprah responded.
AUDIENCE MEMBER:
“I do believe she’s a murderer.”OPRAH:
“After all you’ve heard today?”
That is the tell. The vast majority of the room held the position that Lindsay Clancy was in some way exonerated from her actions. The mere suggestion that this was wrong, and she was to be condemned, was a foreign concept. The woman saying Clancy is not someone to venerate was clearly in the minority. Meanwhile, suggesting other child killers need to have a support staff clad in magenta earns applause.
Pushing for ways to address the problems some of these new mothers face is more than proper but taking the side of someone who has already executed her family is as misguided as you can get. Here was a woman said to be a doctor who was calling for social backing, but look at what it is she is promoting, and not promoting.
She wants equal support for Black child killers. She wants incarcerated murderers to also be supported in the fashion Clancy has received. She is not saying address the problem, make the help more readily available, and invite treatment for those in need. She wants support for those who committed deplorable acts “who don’t look like Lindsay.”
She doesn’t push for tangible help to be provided, she wants the showcase; “I just want the pink shirts, and the energy, for those as well,” – those who lack Lindsay’s “melanin.” Support for the Black female child killers is the message here. Oprah had an audience applauding this position.
The trap in this is what is not spoken with this entreaty. The assumption being made is that those currently in prison had the same experience as Lindsay. Some of these are venal individuals, who killed, but they are to be granted the same sympathy seen currently in this country.
We are on a downward slope when the public is rallying for the woman who eradicated her family. The victims are the infant and two toddlers she admitted to killing, not Lindsay Clancy. But here we are with a call for equity to be applied to the posturing activism.
Adjust the pink shirts, is this new message, in the same way as the Pride flag being perpetually altered. We need inclusiveness for all child killers.
