A Partial List of What Trump Has Left to Rename After His Proposed ‘New Mexico’ Rebrand

On Monday, President Donald Trump used his Truth Social account to encourage the state of New Mexico to rename itself “New America,” pitching it as a device to add “great value and prestige to the State!”
Having been humored by Google Maps and Apple in his rebrand of Lake Ontario and the Gulf of Mexico, it’s no wonder Trump feels free to cast about for more destinations to desecrate. Earlier this month, he floated renaming an entire ocean, though it’s hard to figure out what either the Atlantic or Pacific did to offend.
We hate to tell Trump to think smaller, but there are some places and things–mostly right here in the U.S.–that should probably get his attention before he gears up for the old man versus the sea.
Here’s a partial list of what Trump may want to re-name next:
- Mexico (Maine, Missouri) → America (Maine, Missouri)
- Paris, Texas → America, Texas
- Palestine (Ohio, Texas) → America (Ohio, Texas)
- Gaza, Indiana → America, Indiana
- Lichen species Caloplaca Obamae → Caloplaca Trumpae
- New York, New York → New America, New America
- Joe, North Carolina → Sleepy Joe, North Carolina
- China, New America → America, New America
- Clinton (Maryland, Iowa, Mississippi, Massachusetts, Oklahoma) → America (Maryland, Iowa, Mississippi, Massachusetts, Oklahoma)
- Brazil, Indiana → America, Indiana
