A Look at the Warped Media from the Past Week

Media Scrambled
In covering the news landscape as extensively as I do, there are plenty of warped media items that slip through the cracks or are just too obtuse to warrant full coverage. So here is a compilation of some of the more warped media examples over the past week.
Socialized Medicine…On Death Row?!
The issue of the failed execution of Christa Pike continues to befuddle the press. Her condition was routinely updated, and when she emerged from her coma, it generated headlines across the news spectrum.
Of course, one thing never asked was why she was not administered a final dose of her intravenous sentencing. If she was in a coma, she would not endure any more pain, after all.
Instead, the sharp minds at NBC News were focused in another arena: Their reporters explored why it was that oxygen masks and other medical provisions were not made available during the botched execution. That is to say, they are flummoxed that there was no life-saving equipment on site in the Death Chamber.
There was no medical oxygen or mask in the execution chamber where Tennessee tried and failed to kill convicted murderer Christa Pike, which meant staff had to go and get it when things went wrong, according to a source who witnessed what happened. https://t.co/twzZa7MUUb

Chuck’s TDS Diagnosis
Chuck Todd was rather bothered by a report of multiple cases of mumps in California. This “outbreak” was confined mostly to the locker room of the Sand Diego State football team, the cloistered environment leading to transmission.
Chuckles ascribed the blame for this to Robert Kennedy Jr. and his vaccine policies. Of course, it did not dawn on Mr. Todd that Kennedy could not be faulted for these adults not being properly vaccinated at least 15-20 years ago as children.
Good job Bobby Kennedy Jr. — now your bizarre views have impacted college football.

A New Installation for the Newseum
Keeping with the medical theme, The Guardian has supplied a gem of a headline, worthy of framing.
Over at The @Guardian they feel like they have hit upon the key policy that will impact the midterms.

The News Deflection Attempt of the Week
You can certainly sense that CBS News wanted to find any other cause to cite for that attempted hijacking of the Fly Dubai airliner. We’ll leave it to you to decipher which was the more likely scenario: It was either an attempted terror attack, or it was a case of toxic masculinity.
The FlyDubai co-pilot whose alleged violent attempt to crash a flight to Israel last week and kill everyone onboard has a history of writing and sharing misogynistic remarks on social media using the rhetoric of the so-called manosphere, CBS News has found. https://t.co/Zwe7sWlCGy

CBS as DNC PR Firm
In a bold example of not even hiding it anymore, a now-deleted article – and promotional social media posts – by CBS News health correspondent Darius Tahir was quite revealing. The network had originally shown a rather partisan approach to the Texas Senate race. See if you can tell which candidate the supposedly MAGA-aligned CBS News favors:
“The U.S. Senate candidates in Texas could hardly be more different: James Talarico, a former seminarian turned Democratic state lawmaker who speaks in calm cadences about love and empathy, and Ken Paxton, the pugnacious Republican state attorney general who speaks about a refusal to compromise.”
@CBSNews This is your reminder that journalists don’t take sides…..

From the People Who Hate America In Snow Mexico
At CTV News, the Canadian news outlet was extremely proud that their nation’s space program had successfully made a launch of a satellite into orbit.
“An Ontario-based company that’s building its own rockets says its first satellite in orbit is working well after hitching a ride on an American rocket. NordSpace says it is now the first aspiring Canadian rocket company to operate its own hardware in space. Video from NordSpace’s mission control in Markham, Ont., shows staff cheering and hugging earlier this month as the satellite separated from its rocket.
It was not until very deep in the piece that we were informed about some rather particular details about this “launch”. This was closer to bragging about your on-time policy while having Amazon deliver your product.
The SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket that carried Terra Nova lifted off from California with about 130 other satellites on board. Canada is still a couple of years away from having its own rockets that can deliver payloads to orbit.

The Rice Cake Award for Content-free Reporting
Look, we are guessing there must be an audience hungry for this type of…uh, “news”, we guess. After all, why else would Variety believe it was vital to inform people that, on her podcast, the wife of a retired NFL player felt the need to apologize to the wife of a British royal???
