‘South Park’ Hands Trump the Emmy He’s Wanted for Years – Sort Of

The creators of South Park celebrated their Emmy win on Sunday by roasting President Donald Trump over one of his longest-running showbusiness grievances.

The Comedy Central series won Outstanding Animated Program for its latest season, which subjected Trump to some of the show’s most merciless ridicule yet. But rather than simply celebrate, the show’s official social media account jabbed the president.

“You finally got your Emmy,” South Park posted on X alongside an image of its cartoon Trump clutching the award.

It was a pointed dig at Trump’s decades-long frustration over never winning an Emmy for his reality TV series, The Apprentice. The president has repeatedly complained about the snub, insisting his NBC reality show should have won “many times over,” and arguing the Emmys had “no credibility” because it never did.

Now, South Park’s creators, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, claim that technically a version of Trump finally has one after they made him one of their main targets.

The show’s 27th season repeatedly made headlines for its relentless attacks on Trump, including depicting him fully nude and unpixelated.

Its premiere, “Sermon on the Mount,” which was submitted for Emmy consideration, portrayed Trump as newly involved with Satan while pressuring the titular Colorado town to introduce Christianity into its schools.

In one sequence, a live-action “Trump” wandered through the desert in an episode that culminated in the president’s talking micropenis, complete with googly eyes.

At the time, the Trump White House hit back at South Park, accusing “the Left” of “hypocrisy.”

White House spokesperson Taylor Rogers told Rolling Stone in a statement: “Just like the creators of South Park, the Left has no authentic or original content, which is why their popularity continues to hit record lows.”

She continued: “This show hasn’t been relevant for over 20 years and is hanging on by a thread with uninspired ideas in a desperate attempt for attention. President Trump has delivered on more promises in just six months than any other president in our country’s history — and no fourth-rate show can derail President Trump’s hot streak.”

South Park returns with new episodes on Sept. 16.
