An X account belonging to Iran’s leader Ali Khamenei was brutally fact-checked by the platform’s community notes after claiming Israel is ‘too weak’ to hurt Hezbollah.
On Friday, the leader powerful leader of Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah, was killed by an Israeli military airstrike in Lebanon’s capital of Beirut. Moreover, the Israeli military also killed an Iranian Revolutionary Guard general, Abbas Nilforoushan, in the Friday airstrike.
Israel said it has killed around 30 top Hezbollah leaders over the last several weeks while striking over 140 targets related to the militant group over the last 24 hours.
On Saturday, Khamenei reacted to the news by telling his followers on X that “Zionist criminals” are “far took weak” to devastate Hezbollah.
“The Zionist criminals need to know that they are far too weak to be able to inflict any significant damage on the solid structure of Lebanon’s Hezbollah,” the Ayatollah wrote.

His post was fact-checked by community notes which pointed out that Hezbollah’s top leadership has been eliminated by Israel.
“In fact, the “Zionists” referred to here (Israel) just destroyed the Hezbollah HQ and wiped out its entire leadership,” the note reads under the Ayatollah’s post along with a link to an article covering the killing of Nasrallah.
Community notes continued fact-checking Khamenei in other posts on his account. Later, billionaire X owner Elon Musk promoted the community notes placed on the ayatollah’s account.
