‘You Caught Him!’ Charlie Kirk Show Host Bizarrely Lauds GOP Senator’s Humiliating Gaffe as a ‘Great Moment’

Maybe they didn’t see the part where he was dead wrong?

It’s the only explanation that makes sense, after The Charlie Kirk Show host Andrew Kolvet celebrated Sen. Eric Schmitt (R-MO) for apparently catching ex-Special Counsel Jack Smith in a covert scheme to meet with Fulton County, Georgia D.A. Fani Willis at an Atlanta Hawks basketball game in 2023.

But here’s the problem for Schmitt: He got the Hawks mixed up with the Iowa Hawkeyes.

The botched “gotcha” moment instantly blew up in Schmitt’s face during Smith’s congressional testimony on Tuesday morning.

However, when Schmitt went on the Kirk show right after, Kolvet didn’t make fun of him for it. Instead, he praised him.

“Jack Smith is a total dirtbag, and you caught him out on this NBA game too, by the way, in Atlanta,” Kolvet said. “It was a great moment, so good for you.”

Schmitt didn’t have the heart to tell Kolvet he whiffed on the layup. He let out a measly “yeah,” and they kept going with the interview.

The wacky scene unfolded earlier during Smith’s testimony, with the former prosecutor saying he was actually watching Caitlan Clark play for Iowa — at a game in Maryland — on the same date Schmitt thought he was cozying up to Willis.

Kolvet brought up other moments that didn’t go so badly for Republicans on Tuesday, like when Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) went scorched earth on Smith.

Cruz vented Smith’s “disgraceful” probes – and his conduct during them — would go down in history as the “most egregious abuse of power in the history of the Department of Justice.” The Texas conservative, as the ex-prosecutor sat across from him during his testimony, claimed Smith’s “witch hunt” against Trump and other Republicans was driven by a crazed obsession with bringing down his political enemies.

“Let me say congratulations, because you have succeeded where Richard Nixon failed, which is weaponizing the Department of Justice to go after your political opponents,” Cruz said. “Congratulations.”
