‘You Are F*cking Disgusting!’ Cornell 7 Protesters Turn Their Ire Toward Skeptical Journalist

Demonstrators absolutely bombarded independent journalist Michael Tracey at a protest in support of Jane Doe in the Cornell 7 rape case, with one shouting that he was a “dumb b*tch” twisted enough to defend rapists.
The wild scene broke out Tuesday in downtown Ithaca, New York, where hundreds of protesters had gathered. And many were not happy to see Tracey, whose coverage of the case has been skeptical toward the alleged victim, whose name he published online.
At one point, a young woman in a backwards cap blasted Tracey while shouting, “You’re the motherf*cker who doxxed Jane Doe! You’re a piece of f*cking sh*t!”
“Wrong! Wrong! Wrong! Reporting is not doxxing! Journalism is not doxxing!” Tracey screamed back, as he was surrounded by cops. “Reporting the identity of a litigant in a civil complaint is not doxxing! Learn the definition. Use some rational thought for once!”
The woman continued to scream at him, “These cops should not be standing around you right now! You are f*cking disgusting!”
And she wasn’t the only one.
One woman wearing a black shirt that read, “Jane Doe Sent Me,” yelled at Tracey through a bullhorn, “The rapist is you!” — a phrase repeated by several others.
Another woman urged the crowd not to give Tracey any attention because he was a “piece of sh*t.”
Others chose to shout “f*ck you!” and “shame on you!” at Tracey as he made his way around the event; a few others gave him the finger.
At one point, a young woman approached Tracey and asked, “Can I just ask why you are here?”
“I’m a journalist covering this issue; that’s why I’m here,” Tracey told her. “Why wouldn’t I come here to cover it in person?”
He then rattled off outlets he has done stories for, including the Wall Street Journal, the New York Daily News, and The Daily Beast.
As he was pelted with jeers, Tracey recorded the protest, where attendees held up signs reading, “Justice for all Janes,” “Protect Us From Predators,” and “I Am Jane Doe.”
One livid young man shouted at Tracey to “f*cking record me, b*tch!”
“All right, I will!” Tracey said.
“F*ck you!” the agitated protester responded.
The situation comes as the case has become one of the most-followed stories in the nation after “Jane Doe” claimed she was too inebriated to consent to some of the group sex and drug use she participated in back in 2024.
She made her rape claim weeks after texting one of her alleged perpetrators, “At the end of the day non [sic] of the sexual stuff was illegal and honestly I really liked being with u” — which, among other messages, has led to many saying the rape claims are bogus; the local DA declined to pursue charges against the seven men accused, but New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D) appointed Letitia James as special prosecutor last week to probe it further.
The accuser also filed a civil complaint against the seven male students, as well as Cornell and the Chi Phi fraternity, in September.
