Runners gathered in Paramus, NJ on Sunday to traverse 13.1 miles on foot — but for part of the course, they probably would’ve been better off in a canoe.

Wild new video which spread across social media Sunday showed runners in the Racefaster Half Marathon having to trudge along through knee-deep water at one point on the course. The footage, posted by former Bachelor contestant Zac Clark, showed competitors barely able to move because the floods were so intense.

“Bro!” Clark said — while holding onto a barricade. “This is nuts!”

Despite conditions that were — to put it mildly — less than ideal, Clark said he completed the 13.1 mile course in 1:40:42, putting him in third place in his age category. If only if he’d brought water skis.
