WATCH: Wild Video Captures Powerboat Going Airborne As it Raced at 200 MPH

A man was seriously hurt when a powerboat racing at more than 200 miles per hour in Missouri went airborne, flipping several times.

The terrifying incident at the 38th annual Lake of the Ozarks Shootout took place Saturday, according to KJLU 88.9 FM.

The driver for the Dirty Ducks Racing team ended up with a broken leg and underwent surgery, the outlet reported.

Dirty Duck Racing posted the following message on Facebook:

Rusty is doing well this morning, a little sore all over, but in good spirits. Adam is currently in surgery, this for a broken leg. After speaking with them both, the whole crew is fired up knowing that through all the chaos, we still maintain the Top Gun spot for now. We will share more information as it becomes available. Thank you for your thoughts, concerns, and prayers. — Team Dirty Duck

Ultimately, the team took second place, having hit a speed of 213 miles per hour before the powerboat lifted from the water and repeatedly went end to end.

The two- day, high-performance race is the biggest powerboating event in the sport, according to KJLU.

Video of the incident quickly went viral.

The boat operator, 45, was hurt while his throttleman escaped injury, according to CBS News, which cited Missouri State Highway Patrol.
