President Donald Trump blasted the U.K. and their lack of support in the Iran war during an interview with GB News’ Bev Turner.
Trump sat for an interview with Turner that will air in full on Thursday night. During a discussion about whether the U.S. would come to the aid of the U.K. regarding the sovereignty of the Falkland Islands, Trump laid into the country, telling Turner, “Your country is not doing very well.”
“Your country is not doing well. Don’t forget you get a big percentage of your oil from the Strait of Hormuz, and you weren’t there to help me. Your country was not there to help me,” he said.
He continued, “Your country was not there to help me. We didn’t need help, but I did ask NATO, and I asked your former leader, ‘Why didn’t you send a couple of ships?’ He said we don’t have any, and it was pretty sad, the whole thing. So NATO was not there, even though they get — most of those countries get — a big portion of their oil from there. So we’re doing that by ourselves.”
Trump said he wasn’t “hurt” by the lack of support, but he chalked it up to an “education process.”
Trump has continuously said the U.S. is in control of the Strait of Hormuz as the Iran war rages on and terror groups continue targeting ships there. He said in a Truth Social message on Wednesday that there is “almost total control” of the Strait and he encouraged Iranians to “rise up and fight.”
“I’m not trying to force Iran to the bargaining table, as ABC Fake News reported,” he wrote. “I couldn’t care less if they sign a worthless, to them, agreement. I like our position now much better, with almost total control of the Hormuz Strait, and their economy totally collapsing. They are just playing out the inevitable. When are the Iranian people going to rise up and fight?”
