‘Who Does It Make Rich? Him?’ Trump Voters Hold Nothing Back in Biting MS NOW Segment Where They Torch Tariffs and More

MS NOW’s Alex Tabet spoke to past voters of President Donald Trump in Michigan, where some flatly said they regretted their support and have lost patience while ripping into the president over tariffs and more.

Tabet spoke with past Trump voters in Michigan just north of Detroit for a running segment of talking to Trump voters about campaign promises. The segment aired on Peter Alexander’s State of Play on Friday.

Tabet showed priot campaign speech moments from Trump to voters. Dan Morgan, who voted for Trump in 2024, said he regretted his support now as Trump’s trade war with Canada and tariffs have hit the state’s auto industry.

“Instead of taxing our citizens to enrich other countries, we will tariff and tax foreign countries to enrich our citizens,” Trump said in a 2025 speech.

“Who does it make rich? Him?” Morgan asked. “I mean, because I have not seen anything out of this.”

“Are you regretting voting for Trump right now?” Tabet asked.

“Oh yeah, yes,” Morgan said.

Three-time Trump voter Kenneth Matthews got so frustrated watching a clip of Trump that he told Tabet to stop playing it.

“I’m p*ssed off about them because it’s bullsh*t,” Matthews said about tariffs.

Three-time Trump voter Sonia Kyle said she hoped Trump would simply lower his tariffs. She said she’s “on the fence” about whether she regrets her Trump vote.

Dennis Walls, who also voted for Trump three times, said he was “confused” by Trump boasting about the strength of the economy amid inflated fuel prices. He said he’s most concerned about tariffs and high gas prices.

“Are we rich because of the tariffs?” Tabet asked.

“H*ll no. I pardon my language. Heck no. Like I said, I’m trying to trust the process, but I’m like, how long is this process going to drag out?” Walls asked.

Kevin Rodriguez, who voted for Trump in 2024, scoffed at the president claiming tariffs have made the country “rich as h*ll.”

“Who’s rich? Because it ain’t me,” he said.

According to the National Taxpayers Union Foundation, Michigan residents are paying “somewhere between $23 to $26 billion more because of tariffs,” which is about $6,000 in extra costs for each household.

One mechanic shop owner said prices for parts have sometimes doubled amid tariffs.

“This country, I think the richer people got richer, but the average person, no, it’s tearing us apart,” the owner, Andy Sliwa, said.

Bob Roberts, a bar owner and Trump voter, said he’s lost about 15% of his business due to Canadian tariffs and a ban on importing most alcohol from Canada. Roberts estimated that 15% equates to about $30,000 a month in business.

“If we continue down the road that we’re on, there’s not going to be any way that I can survive as a restaurateur and because of that, you know, I’ll go out of business,” he said.
