Piers Morgan’s interview with AI-generated actress Tilly Norwood briefly went off the rails when the bot suddenly started speaking Chinese.

Norwood has recently participated in numerous interviews, giving outlets the opportunity to interact her and ask various questions about her existence and her purpose within the entertainment industry. One of those press stops included Piers Morgan Uncensored. Along with actor Tom Conti, Morgan probed the AI bot about her upcoming projects.

During their conversation, Conti asked if the other actors in the film were also AI. When Norwood didn’t respond, he repeated the question. Norwood then said:

It’s an interesting point, Tom. My film Misaligned is a hybrid production, meaning real directors, writers and editors are still very much involved. It’s not about replacing anyone, but about exploring new ways to tell stories.

Conti then pointed out that Norwood “didn’t really understand the question” and repeated it. This time, she confirmed that all the actors on-screen were “digital twins, just like me.”

Moments later, Norwood went silent for several seconds before suddenly speaking Chinese. Conti and Morgan were dumbfounded.

“I didn’t quite get that,” Conti said. “Did you get that, Piers?”

Piers laughed before asking Norwood what just happened.

“Tilly, if I could just ask you a question,” Morgan began. “You suddenly seem to be speaking — it’s Piers again — you seem to be speaking Chinese completely randomly for no reason. Why did you do that?”

Norwood then explained it was a “little hiccup” in her programming.

“I certainly didn’t mean to start speaking Chinese or impersonate Piers,” Norwood said. “Sometimes, my wires get a bit crossed, you know?”

Morgan then asked how often such hiccups occur.

“Honestly, not often at all,” she said. “That was a bit of a curveball, even for me. It’s usually a pretty smooth ride, but sometimes these things happen.”
