Trump Falsely Inflates Margin of Victory After Senator Tells Him He Won Alaska by 15 Points: ‘How About 22?’

President Donald Trump was so dissatisfied with Sen. Dan Sullivan’s (R-AK) response about his margin of victory in Alaska that he decided to inflate it substantially.

Sitting in the Oval Office on Wednesday, Trump announced that South Korea is investing $54 billion to export natural gas from Alaska. As he spoke, the president was flanked by Sullivan, who is in a tight reelection battle against former Rep. Mary Peltola.

During the event, Trump took a detour to complain that another Dan Sullivan is running in the general election after he finished in the top four in Alaska’s jungle primary in August.

“I have to tell you this because he has an election, a crooked deal,” the president said. “It’s as crooked as hell, I’ll say it, when they put up a man with his– they picked him out of a hat. They said, ‘Anyone named Dan Sullivan in Alaska?’ And they put someone up against him because they know they can’t win without cheating. That’s what they do, is they cheat.”

Trump then credited Sullivan for South Korea’s investment, saying the senator is “totally responsible for this pipeline.” He then asked Sullivan his margin of victory in Alaska:

TRUMP: I won Alaska by a lot. Many, many points. By how many points? Do you know?

SULLIVAN: Fifteen, Sir.

TRUMP: How about 22? A lot of points. We shouldn’t have a problem, but one of the reasons I won is we’ve done more for Alaska than anybody in history, times 10.

Trump won Alaska by 13 points in 2024, 10 points in 2020, and 15 points in 2016.

During a debate in September, Sullivan copied Peltola’s response to a question after he was caught peeking at the “No” sign she was holding up before he weighed in.
