Trump Boasts of Super PAC’s War Chest and Declares, ‘This Is My Money’

President Donald Trump said on Friday that the money in his MAGA Inc. super PAC “is my money,” and he will spend it on Republican campaigns as he sees fit.

Trump is historically unpopular according to several polls, but has reportedly told aides he wants to make the midterms a referendum on his record.

Republicans have grown increasingly antsy over the PAC’s lack of spending in key races where GOP candidates are in trouble ahead of November’s midterm elections. And the ads MAGA Inc. has run so far are actually about Trump.

On Friday, the president took questions from reporters in the Oval Office, where one asked whether Trump would spend money to prop up scandal-ridden Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, who is running for U.S. Senate.

“When will your super PAC MAGA Inc. start spending on Ken Paxton?” she asked.

“We already did,’ Trump interjected.

“But will you spend more?” the reporter followed up.

“I think I have close to a billion dollars in the super PAC, and I’m allocating probably $400, 500 million, so we’ll be spending–”

“On the midterm election?” the reporter asked.

Trump responded by saying that his PAC will “spend a lot of money.” He later referred to its cash on hand as “my money”:

I’m gonna spend whatever amount of money necessary to try and help us. And this is money for MAGA Inc. This is my money that I control. This is separate from the [Republican National Committee]. It’s separate from people having money. And I think it’s not even counted in terms of the media. I’m not sure they ever talk about it. They just found out about it. But yeah, we have around $1 billion I can spend. I can spend for the next race also. I can spend it for what I wanna spend it for. But I’m gonna help a lot of the congressmen and senators that need help.
