Stephanie Ruhle’s Mom Crashes Her Daughter’s MS NOW Live Show — Gets Audience Cracking Up With Question on ‘I-A’ Technology

MS NOW host Stephanie Ruhle’s mom turned an otherwise serious discussion about artificial intelligence and the future of America into an unexpected live-TV moment Thursday when she joined her daughter’s show from the studio audience to ask about “I.A.”

Louise Ruhle appeared during the closing minutes of Money, Power, Politics, where her daughter had been speaking with former Chicago mayor and U.S. ambassador to Japan Rahm Emanuel and other panelists about A.I. and the direction of the country.

Ruhle pointed out that her mother was sitting in the audience and invited her to ask a question.

“The country’s definitely going sideways. And it didn’t just start yesterday. Where are we headed?” Louise Ruhle asked. “And I’m not talking about parties, I’m talking about the direction of this country because it’s not going in a good direction. No how, no way.”

She then turned to the panel’s discussion of technology: “And you people are talking very high things. I-A, a lot of people don’t know all about I.A., they’re living in the –”

Her daughter jumped in: “A.I, she means A.I.”

The studio audience erupted in laughter before Louise continued, arguing that ordinary Americans were struggling with everyday issues while political and economic leaders were discussing problems far removed from their lives.

Stephanie Ruhle then tossed the question to Emanuel with a grin: “I.A., it’s the new A.I.”

“I just learned a lot about you,” Emanuel shot back, drawing another round of laughter.

Emanuel then gave Louise a decidedly serious answer, arguing that the United States had become too willing to tolerate problems it once would have considered unacceptable.

“50% of our kids can’t read at grade level, and nobody is talking about it,” he said, before arguing the United States could not blame China or other foreign countries for domestic failures involving education or infrastructure.

“[In] fairness is we’ve had two presidents back to back, both parties, who are trying to restore a past that’s never coming back,” he said, adding: “This country is ready to focus on a future that includes everybody and is related to either A.I. or I.A., either one of them.”
