Scott Jennings Calls on Trump to Issue ‘Formal Declaration of Victory’ on Iran

CNN conservative commentator Scott Jennings called on President Donald Trump to issue a “formal declaration of victory” in the war with Iran on Wednesday.

Jennings was appearing on the network’s The Arena, with host Kasie Hunt kicking off the broadcast by pointing out, “We have to mention to our viewers that Mr. Jennings is reportedly being considered for the role of the next White House press secretary.”

Trump, though, is reportedly “not quite sold” on the idea.

Later in the show, Hunt sparked the exchange in question by noting that Trump said Wednesday that “the war is gonna wind down shortly,” a somewhat different message than last week’s Truth Social posts, in which he declared, “Mission Accomplished.”

CNN political commentator Xochitl Hinojosa then added some advice for the GOP: “If I were a Republican, or anybody in a swing district, I would call on the president to come out with a plan to get us out of this war.”

“You think people running for Congress in the president’s party should go out and say, ‘Well, gee whiz, everybody. We lost the war. Sorry about it,'” the conservative pundit wondered.

After making clear that she didn’t say that the U.S. lost the war, Hinojosa questioned, “What’s the exit strategy for the president?”

“The exit strategy is happening right now,” Jennings stressed. “It’s the commander in chief’s job, and I’m sure he will do it, to explain to the American people how we have won this war, how we are safer, and how this is gonna benefit the world. That is the next phase of this.”

He continued, “There has to be an affirmative, formal declaration of victory, in my opinion… He shouldn’t let politics dictate this, but we are at the point now where Iran is totally scrambled and defeated, and we need to take credit for it.”

During an episode of his Salem Media program last week, Jennings made similar sweeping statements, arguing, “Iran entered this war with four great pillars of strength… Every one of those pillars has been severely damaged or outright destroyed.”
