Scarborough Suggests Manliness-Obsessed Republicans Should Perform in Guys & Dolls: ‘They’d Be Fabulous’
Joe Scarborough has a suggestion for Republicans apparently obsessed with manliness.
The Morning Joe host was discussing President Donald Trump’s current penchant for marveling at — including an in-depth examination of Sen. Jon Husted (R-OH) earlier this month.
“I looked, and I watched up and down. I looked at his ass, and I looked at the whole– and then I looked at his hands. Look at his hands. He’s got these, like, claws,” the president said on Oct. 12, later adding, “I was studying his body.”
It’s been such a theme at Trump’s recent appearances; CNN’s Anderson Cooper played a montage of the president admiring men’s behinds.
Scarborough noted Republicans have also repeatedly slammed Texas Senate Candidate James Talarico (D) over similar themes of him “not being manly enough” and said voters aren’t into it.
“Yeah, with Trump, there’s very rarely a long-term strategy,” co-host Jonathan Lemire noted. “It’s all sort of impulse. It’s trying to win that news cycle, win that news minute, frankly, change the chyron on the bottom of the television.”
Lemire later added all the headline-making weirdness hasn’t helped Republican candidates desperate for an assist with the upcoming midterm elections.
“And Mika and Joe, you know, we’ve been talking about this for a while. Republicans are looking at the White House for any sort of help whatsoever and they’re getting none because his policies haven’t worked,” Lemire said.
“His rally appearances have done more harm than good, it would appear. And now you’re seeing every poll he and his party are underwater on every issue, including ones that used to be strengths,” Lemire added.
But Scarborough had an answer for Republicans worried about their future.
And just going out and just saying the most bizarre things. I mean, last night, talking about how handsome Darline Graham’s husband is and just on and on, you know, it’s constant,” Scarborough said.
“Like for the Republican base is like, wait, why does he keep talking about men’s a*ses? That’s not really why we’re here. We were hoping kind of for more like Donald Trump. 2024, Donald Trump 2016,” he said.
“Instead, we hear about bulky, handsome men, about senators a*ses, about the physiques of people, people’s hands as big as claws. It’s really — it’s really bizarre.
“At the same time, they’re talking about James Talarico not being manly enough? Please, I’m telling you, these Republicans, a lot of them, man, they literally they, they should — after they all lose, they should go do a world tour of Guys and Dolls and just see how that goes. They’d be absolutely fabulous in it.”
