‘RINOs’: Trump Adviser Says ‘Fox News Has Gotta Quit Screwing Around’
Peter Navarro, President Donald Trump’s senior counselor for trade and manufacturing, lashed out at Fox News, accusing the network of being full of “RINOs” and demanding that it “quit screwing around.”
The explosive remarks came as Navarro hosted a press conference Friday on new U.S. manufacturing projects. Before the presser began, Navarro was caught on a hot mic talking to an aide on the phone, fuming that the “sh*thead” pool cameraman would not turn on the camera. No official press conference appeared to have been scheduled before he began speaking.
“It’s unfortunate that much of the media is not covering this,” lamented the top Trump adviser before referencing an earlier announcement he gave. “Fox boycotted it. We didn’t have CNN there, or MS NOW, or any of that stuff. Didn’t have CNBC, Bloomberg. And this is the White House! It’s, like, their responsibility to cover stories like this.”
He continued:
Particularly going into an election, and particularly with their anti-Trump thought process, they are doing everything, basically, to convince you not to vote Republican and to turn the House and Senate back into the irresponsible hands of the Democrats, and this has gotta stop.
I mean, Fox News in particular has gotta quit screwing around with this White House and with this country because they’re masquerading as Trump Republicans when all they are is what we call RINOs — Republican in name only. They take advantage of you on camera. They throw you a little red meat about conservative issues that everybody agrees on, but when it comes to actually reporting things like tariffs or interference in our election systems or anything in between, Peter Doocy ain’t around. Fox isn’t around here.
Look, the pool guy, he’s filming the camera, and he’s insisting that I stop saying this, but the truth is, where are these people? We held a press conference here today, right? And none of them showed up for the data. They won’t report stories on it, and they didn’t ask questions. It speaks for itself.
“Are you taking questions?” a reporter asked.
“Anyway, I appreciate C-SPAN for running this today,” concluded Navarro, not responding to the previous question.
Trump has taken aim at the network multiple times himself in recent days. On Tuesday, he wrote on social media, “FoxNews spends more time covering the Jihadist and Dumocrat candidates than they do the good old fashioned Republicans,” adding, “They have totally lost their way!”
Watch above on C-SPAN.
