Republican Candidate at Trump Rally Talks Just Like Him While Presenting ‘Man of the Century Award’

An Iowa Republican congressional candidate talked and gesticulated exactly like President Donald Trump while presenting him with an award that the candidate just made up.

Joe Mitchell, a 29-year-old former state representative, is the GOP nominee in Iowa’s second congressional district. On Thursday night, he joined Trump for a rally in Sioux City, Iowa. Mitchell is locked in a tight race with Democratic state Rep. Lindsay James.

During his remarks at the rally, Mitchell said Trump should have received the Nobel Peace Prize by now. As he spoke, Mitchell echoed some of Trump’s speech mannerisms, such as using the word ‘disgrace,’ calling out CNN, gesticulating like Trump, and even sounding like him at times. While doing so, Mitchell presented Trump with the “Man of the Century Award”:

So, I wanted to say, Mr. President, for the last 10 years, you kept this country more safe than any other president, ever. Ever. And they’ve never given you the Nobel Peace Prize, by the way, which is a disgrace. So, what I came up with, Mr. President, is the new award. It’s called the “Man of the Century Award.” Okay? It’s the “Man of the Century Award.” And I’m gonna hold this up for the artificial media to see. CNN, zoom in right here, CNN. Ok? Because this man has done more for humanity and for America than any other president ever. Thank you, Mr. President, for being here. Thank you for supporting Iowa. And thank you for being the greatest president we’ve ever had.

While Trump possesses the actual hardware of a Nobel Peace Prize, he has not been awarded one. Last year’s Nobel Peace Prize winner, Venezuelan opposition leader  María Corina Machado, presented Trump with her award in January, less than two weeks after he authorized the abduction of Nicolás Maduro. This month, the Nobel Committee gave the award to Navi Pillay, a South African human rights attorney who served as a judge on the International Criminal Court. Pillay previously defended an imprisoned Nelson Mandela, and last year led a United Nations panel that concluded that Israel committed genocide in Gaza, citing a specific intent to eliminate Palestinians in the territory.

Trump responded by slamming Pillay, stating, “I know nothing about this woman, and neither does anyone else!”
