Outnumbered Panelist Warns Lindsay Clancy Trial Is Fueling Gender Wars: ‘What Is This Doing for Gen Z?’

Fox News panelist and National Review columnist Caroline Downey warned the ongoing Lindsay Clancy trial may have a negative impact on dating, saying the case is “fueling the gender wars like I have never seen before.”

During a discussion about the case on Wednesday’s Outnumbered, Downey said she wanted to weigh in on the “negative societal implications” of the horrifying murder case that has stunned America.

“The jury is still out, obviously, but I just want to weigh in real quick on the negative societal implications that we are already seeing,” Downey said. “This case is exacerbating and fueling the gender wars like I have never seen before.”

She added:

It is quite evident to me that the way that this case has turned into a circus, a spectacle, bizarre TikTok reactions with some young women fantasizing about, or joking about killing their children and all of the other associated media with it, it is destroying the goodwill that young men and women had for each other. I really do believe that this is going to have severe civilizational consequences because this might be a litmus test in dating. How do you feel about the Lindsay Clancy case? This is gonna be asked between romantic partners. And the answer to that question could ultimately be disqualifying but I do think that’s very concerning. Zooming out from the specifics of the litigation is, what is this doing for Gen Z? Young people who are obsessed with this case and they are taking it as like a barometer of how we should view anything else in this country.

Also on Wednesday, the jury in the case told the judge they were deadlocked for a second time, as the possibility of a mistrial becomes increasingly likely.

Clancy killed her three children, Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, 8 months, in January 2023, while her then-husband, Patrick, was running errands. She then jumped out of a second-floor window in a suicide attempt.

While Clancy admitted to strangling the children with an exercise band, the jury has been tasked with deciding whether she planned the horrific murders or did so while in the throes of postpartum psychosis.
