Ossoff Turns the Tables on Republican Opponent’s Epstein Attack: ‘You Voted To Cover Up the Evidence’
Sen. Jon Ossoff (D-GA) went on the counterattack during Tuesday’s U.S. Senate debate when Rep. Mike Collins (R-GA) tried linking the senator to deceased child sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein.
Last November, Congress voted on a bill requiring the Department of Justice to release all of its files on Epstein. President Donald Trump, who could have ordered the documents released unilaterally, grudgingly signed the legislation, which Collins voted in favor of. However, in a previous vote on the measure in July 2025, Collins voted against compelling the DOJ to release the files.
The Epstein material contains scores of communications between Epstein and other wealthy and well-known individuals, including Trump, a former friend of Epstein’s. The documents also include LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman, a major Democratic donor and Ossoff benefactor. In one email to Epstein in 2014, Hoffman wrote that he sent Epstein two gifts, including one to Epstein’s private island: “1. ice cream. if you have any interest, you should try — else for the girls. 2. something that may strike your funny bone for the island.”
During the debate, Collins went on the offensive armed with the email.
“You know, John, one of your largest donors is Reid Hoffman,” Collins said. “He slept on the Epstein island. He stayed at his Manhattan townhouse. He sent Epstein ice cream and said it’s for the girls. You claim to fight against the Epstein class, but I’m going to tell you, this call is coming from inside the house. And the Epstein class is on stage right now. And it’s you. Will you condemn Reid Hoffman and apologize for your hypocrisy tonight?”
Ossoff responded by expressing surprise that Collins would bring up Epstein, considering the congressman had initially voted against releasing the files. The senator responded:
Mike, who on your team advised you to raise the Epstein files? You voted to cover up the evidence, Mike. Listen folks, I wanna repeat it again. It’s important to understand. When Congress was voting on whether to release that evidence, we all knew what had happened. But you voted to cover the evidence even though you knew 14-year-old girls had been raped, because Donald Trump told you to. Donald Trump, who by the way, is named a thousand times in the Epstein files.
Have you ever met with Jeffrey Epstein’s victims when they ask you why you voted to cover up the Epstein files? Do you have an answer? What would you say to them tonight, Mike after you voted to cover up evidence of the most notorious sex trafficking ring in American history? The vote is public record. You voted to cover up the Epstein files. You should explain that vote to Jeffrey Epstein’s victims right now.
Collins replied, “You know, he never answered the question. He won’t answer the question because he’s part of that crowd. That’s the people he caters to: people like Reid Hoffman. Disgusting. That’s a data center billionaire Epstein elite class. That’s part of John Ossoff. And the way, John, I did vote to release the Epstein files. I voted to release them.”
Polls consistently show Ossoff leading Collins by a high single-digit figure, if not outright double digits.
