Kash Patel Boasts on Fox He’s ‘Increased the Use of AI’ in the FBI by 605%

FBI Director Kash Patel boasted on Fox News that he’s increase the use of AI by 605% during his time in his position.

Patel joined Fox News’ Kayleigh McEnany on Saturday in America and discussed using AI to “triage data.” McEnany brought up Patel’s recent statements about AI being used to stop a potential school shooting in North Carolina.

Patel said:

We’ve done it in North Carolina and about half a dozen other states to prevent school shootings since I’ve been in the seat. AI, when used lawfully, is a critical tool to triage data. For far too long the institutional morass in D.C. rejected the advancements of technology. I have increased the use of AI in the FBI by 605%. And what we’re about to do is work with our private sector partners and work with our state and local partners and look at databases and collect information and get DNA and then get these threats back out to the field and stop people from killing children at schools. That is not a political mission. And, of course, all the Democrats on the committee didn’t want to talk about that, but we are going to continue the work of safeguarding our most precious resources, our children, and we’re going to rely on technology, and we have made the most technological advancements in the FBI’s history in the last 18 months thanks to President Trump.

Patel told Fox News’ Sean Hannity in May that AI was used for a “tip” on a potential school shooting in North Carolina.

“We stopped a school massacre in North Carolina because we got a tip and we were able to triage it with artificial intelligence,” he said.

He added that he has tech companies “embedded” at the FBI.

“I’ve got every major tech company in the world embedded in the FBI, rebuilding our internet capabilities, our classified systems, and the ability for artificial intelligence to be in our counterterrorism program so we can get instantaneous results,” Patel said.

Patel’s use of AI comes amid growing concerns inside and outside the tech industry. Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei warned this month that AI’s pace must be slowed down or rogue AI agents could take over the internet in 12 months. Tech leaders Elon Musk and Sam Altman backed the call to slow the pace.

That warning followed Anthropic researcher Jacob Coxon resigning and dropping a viral statement claiming AI could advance so rapidly that it “kills us all” within 10 years.

President Donald Trump has dismissed doomsday scenarios involving AI as a “hoax.” In posts to Truth Social on Saturday, he defended AI and called it a “revolution,” though admitted he’s not a fan of the name and asked people to vote in a poll for his alternate ideas.
