Joe Scarborough Floored By GOP Senator’s ‘Furries’ Obsession: ‘He Knows Way Too Much About This’

Joe Scarborough and his Morning Joe crew were thrown for a loop on Friday when trying to explain one Republican senator’s increasing focus on “furries.”

Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) took to the Senate floor this week to rant about “furries” and to warn that many of these “furries” he’s concerned about are pilots or work in the air travel industry.

“It’s terrifying when you think about this. When you walk onto a commercial flight, it’s possible that the pilot flying your plane could have a deranged fetish of dressing up like an animal,” Tuberville said.

He’s since made multiple warnings about furries in interviews and through social media.

On Morning Joe, Scarborough scoffed and laughed at Tuberville’s focus on “furries” — people with a fetish for dressing up like anthropomorphic animals — and questioned the real reason behind the apparent “obsession.”

Willie Geist then pulled out a picture of Tuberville with the Auburn Tigers mascot.

“I think it’s it is worth being concerned at this point about his obsession. Listen, if you were the Auburn Tiger from 1999 to 2008 or before that, Colonel Reb at Ole Miss or after that the Cincinnati Bearcats, you can reach out anonymously if there’s anything you want to share. It’s never too late to tell. We’re here to talk about this,” Geist joked.

“I mean, I’m sure right now they need support. If you’re a mascot from those years, he’s obviously very, very obsessed with this,” Scarborough added.

“He talks about them meowing and barking,” a shocked Mika Brzezinski said.

“He knows way too much about this,” Scarborough said.

He then called out potentially “closeted” furries in the Republican Party and blasted what he described as a rising “beta culture” in the party.

Scarborough said:

This huge sort of beta culture that has really overtaken the Republican Party, I don’t understand it. I mean, I’m a simple guy. I mean, I’m a southern state school guy. And, you know, I think a lot of these guys, they go to like Ivy League schools and they’re frustrated. And I don’t know, some may may feel like they’re, you know, kind of being repressed. I don’t know what it is. I don’t understand that, you know, but this is really sad. We’ve got an Alabama senator who’s obsessed with furries.
