Jimmy Kimmel Slams ‘Maniac’ Trump’s ‘Appalling’ Rally ‘Joke’: ‘I’m Going to Report Him to the FCC!’
Jimmy Kimmel unloaded on President Donald Trump’s “appalling” riff musing that a nuclear Iran could “take out” Los Angeles and San Diego – and even threatened to report the president to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
As Kimmel revisited some of the moments from Trump’s midterms campaign Nebraska rally he inevitably turned to the president’s decision to name drop his home city, Los Angeles. On Tuesday’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! the host called the remarks “truly appalling” as he rolled the clip.
As the in-studio audience jeered, the host quipped: “Oh, you’re booing, but they’re cheering.”
“He’s talking about Iran bombing us. And I know he says a lot of crazy things,” Kimmel continued. “I know this is something we’ll forget about by Thursday when he accidentally swallows a baby at a rally or whatever the hell he does next. But that’s one of the craziest, most indefensible statements I have ever heard even this maniac make.”
“Openly musing about Iran, a country we are currently at war with, taking out two American cities while his adoring fans cheer him on,” he added, following: “But it’s okay because we’re liberals, we deserve to be bombed. Can somebody please change this man’s diaper already? I think that old nut has been sitting in his own excrement too long! He has the rantavirus and it needs to be treated, medically. Now we have our own president wishing death to America!”
Trump made the comments Monday while campaigning in Nebraska, as he defended the ongoing war with Iran and the economic costs associated with it as “a very small price to pay.”
Warning that a nuclear armed Iran “can take out a city,” the president said. “Let them take out Los Angeles. Let them take out San Diego.”
Kimmel invoked the conservative backlash he faced in April over a joke about First Lady Melania Trump becoming an “expectant widow.” He replayed television clips from the time, in which MAGA pundits demanded consequences against him, then ran several recent clips of commentators dismissing Trump’s words as a “joke.”
Kimmel suggested Trump should now face the same scrutiny: “That’s right. You know what? I’m going to report him to the FCC!”
“Now it’s a joke, before it was not a joke,” he said. “The hypocrisy is so glaring, you can’t even turn your head toward it. You will get blind.”
In a final dig, running a last clip of Governor Gavin Newsom giving Melania Trump a kiss on the cheek during the president’s 2025 visit to the state, Kimmel concluded:”Want to know the real reason Trump hates California? I’ll tell you. Has nothing to do with politics. It’s because our governor got farther with his wife than he has in 15 years. And she’s been California dreaming ever since.”
The White House denied that Trump was advocating an attack on American cities, saying his remarks were intended to argue that U.S. action had prevented Iran from gaining the ability to strike them.
Trump’s remarks nevertheless drew criticism from Democrats and some Republicans in California, who said no American city should be spoken of as expendable.
