Jesse Watters Tries to Explain Away Explosive Trump-Musk War By Comparing It to a Guy ‘Sleeping With Your Girlfriend’

Fox News host Jesse Watters downplayed the escalating feud between former allies President Donald Trump and Elon Musk on Thursday, likening their public falling-out to friends fighting over a girlfriend and patching things up later.

Speaking on The Five, Watters suggested that the ongoing war of words between the president and the Tesla CEO was more about egos than anything else.

“Sometimes when you’re angry, you say things you don’t mean,” he said. “Greg knocked my hair last week, and I said he’s on the Epstein list. I didn’t mean that. No one knows what the list is, he didn’t know, but sometimes guys fight. Guys sometimes will punch you in the face, and the next night you’re having a beer. Sleep with your girlfriend, and you patch things up.”

Co-host Greg Gutfeld reacted to Watters’ comment by asking, “Really?”

Watters continued, “No one slept with my girlfriend, let’s put it that way. [Musk and Trump] are like roommates. They were living in close quarters for like the first six months of the year. They’re just blowing off steam. The issue is donor maintenance. This guy’s the mega donor. So you don’t want them accusing you of being a pedophile.”

He concluded, “Maybe they can patch things up. I mean, Vance called Trump Hitler, and he’s on the ticket.”

Trump and Musk took shots at each other throughout the day on Thursday.

After the president ripped Musk for opposing his tax bill, Musk hit back hard.

In one X post, Musk commented, “@realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public.”

He also claimed he was responsible for Trump winning the 2024 election and called the president ungrateful.

Trump responded by threatening to cancel Musk’s government contracts.
