Jesse Watters Says, ‘I Actually Like Abdul’ El-Sayed: ‘Not Your Typical Stiff’

Fox News’s Jesse Watters offered measured praise of Dr. Abdul El-Sayed on Tuesday night, saying, “I actually like” the Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate in Michigan.

Watters tangled with El-Sayed on Monday’s Jesse Watters Primetime for 25 minutes in what was a mostly contentious interview in which the host asked El-Sayed about his campaign positions on abolishing Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Medicare for All, the Green New Deal, taxing the ultra-wealthy, and other topics, such as gender-affirming surgery for minors. Watters’ question on the latter topic prompted El-Sayed to ask, “Are you circumcised?”

On Tuesday’s show, Watters played clips of the media reaction to his interview, including remarks from Mika Brzezinski, who praised El-Sayed and Watters.

“There was some great sparring there that I thought was healthy, and needed more for Democrats to step up, go on Fox News, for Fox News to have Democrats on,” she said. “And by the way, for different points of view to show up on all of the networks that people watch. So, I thought this was really actually constructive. It was a little hard to watch at times. But at the same time, I commend him for going on, and I commend Jesse Watters for having him. And I hope there’s more of it.”

Watters explained that he likes El-Sayed personally, but that he would make for an awful senator.

“I actually like Abdul. I probably shouldn’t like him, but I do. I think he’d be a terrible senator and he’s a little bit of a lunatic,” Watters said. “But at least he’s not your typical stiff.”

In the interview with El-Sayed, Watters told El-Sayed, “You seem a little naive” and charged that some of his ideas are “straight-up wacky.”
