Jelly Roll Jokes Trump Is Waging ‘World War 2-Ply’ as Toilet Paper Prices Climb in Canada Tariff Dispute

Country music star Jelly Roll mocked President Donald Trump’s escalating trade dispute with Canada on late-night TV on Wednesday, branding the spat “World War 2-Ply” as he spotted “something poetic” in rising toilet paper prices.

Guest-hosting Jimmy Kimmel Live! for his third night this week, the singer took aim at Trump after the president imposed 50% tariffs on the country, prompting retaliatory measures from Ottawa. The two countries were reportedly close to an agreement last week, but it fell apart at the last minute, with each side accusing the other of asking too much.

On Wednesday, Jelly Roll arrived at the subject, musing on his “crazy” week in Los Angeles and a bizarre California highway accident involving a truck that spilled cheese balls across the road.

“Well, speaking of cheese balls, let’s talk about Donald Trump,” he said, drawing laughs from the audience.

He continued: “The president is doubling down on his ridiculous trade war with Canada. And they’re saying this could lead to higher prices for several products, including whiskey, smartphones, but most alarmingly, toilet paper.”

“It’s going to be a real World War 2-Ply,” he jabbed as the audience laughed.

Rounding for another hit, he added: “But you have to admit, there is something poetic about it being so expensive to wipe our a** just because the president’s full of sh*t!”

Canada is one of the United States’ largest trading partners, leaving businesses and consumers on both sides of the border exposed to the effects of the escalating tariff fight.
