Fox’s Laura Ingraham Insists, ‘I’ve Not Been for the War in Iran’ After Praising Trump for Launching It
Laura Ingraham offered her strongest public opposition to the Iran war on Monday night, claiming she has been flat-out against it despite previously praising President Donald Trump for launching it in the first place.
On Monday’s edition of The Ingraham Angle on Fox News, the host spoke with Democratic strategist James Carville, who noted that multiple Republican candidates in the midterm elections are calling for an end to the war. He pointed to U.S. Senate candidates Mike Rogers (R-MI) and Ashley Hinson (R-IA), stating that it is “easy” for them to call for a conclusion to what is a wildly unpopular conflict.
“It’s easy for Mike Rogers to say it’s easy to say, ‘We need to get out of Iran now.’ It’s easy for Ashley Hinson to say, ‘We need to get out of Iran now’ because the farmers can’t afford diesel fuel,” Carville said.
Ingraham then pivoted to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), who has been floated as a potential 2028 presidential candidate.
“There’s gonna be a logjam of people running for the Democratic nomination in 2028,” Carville said. “I won’t deem her the winner already. I’ll say you gotta go through and get the most votes. And I’m sure that she will be asked about her relationship with certain wings of the left-wing of American politics. And that’s a fair question. She should be asked that.”
“Put your campaign hat on for a moment,” Ingraham replied. “Does the generic ballot number mean much to you? I mean, given what you’ve laid out, obviously, I’ve not been for the war in Iran. And I’m not happy with high gas prices. I see a lot of other good trends, but I’m not happy with those at all.”
“I give you credit,” Carville replied.
“From day one,” Ingraham insisted.
That’s not quite accurate. Early on during the war, Ingraham praised Trump for launching the conflict.
On the March 5 episode of her show, Ingraham slammed former President Joe Biden for not confronting Iran.
“Biden’s Iran strategy, turns out it was no strategy at all, as Politico even noted in 2024,” she said at the time while saying Trump had won the war. “The truth is our military’s primary objective, eliminating Iran’s nuclear program, eliminating Iranian ballistic missiles and future production, and eliminating their interceptors, taking out their Navy.”
On April 8, she praised Trump again, saying that Iran has “been neutered or close to it. That is ultimately a huge gift to future generations in the region and here in the United States.” She then conceded, “Things are gonna be bumpy for a bit as negotiations continue.”
Ingraham has expressed skepticism at times. In an interview with Sen. Tim Sheehy (R-MT) on March 17, she doubted whether Iran posed an “imminent” threat. On March 31, she questioned whether Trump understood the “complexity” of the war. On June 9 and July 9, she noted that Iranian strikes kept hitting U.S. assets in the region despite Trump’s claims that Iran’s military had been destroyed. On July 24, she said the U.S. “obviously” did not destroy the country’s military. In a tweet on March 9, she demanded Trump address the U.S. bombing of a girls’ school in southern Iran.
