Fox Host Presses Ken Paxton on Trump’s Fashion Dig: ‘Are You Going to Be Changing Your Suit?’

Fox News host Rachel Campos-Duffy pressed Texas Republican Senate candidate Ken Paxton on President Donald Trump’s repeated references to his fashion choices, asking Thursday, “Are you going to be changing your suit?”

“You might not like the way he dresses,” Trump said during a Wednesday dinner in the Rose Garden for Republican lawmakers. “It’s so insulting to him, but I might as well say it. You might not like the way he looks. You might not love his look. You might not love his television interviews. But he was the best attorney general in the country, perhaps. He was one of the best in the entire country, and that speaks a lot louder than the suit he’s wearing that doesn’t look so great.”

Those remarks marked the third time Trump had made similar comments on Wednesday, following remarks on a podcast and later in the Oval Office.

Campos-Duffy, who is married to Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, was in for Laura Ingraham on Thursday’s edition of The Ingraham Angle.

“Are you going to be changing your suit?” she asked Paxton, also the Texas attorney general, after airing a clip of Trump’s remarks. “Are you getting some sort of wardrobe change? That’s a lot of pressure right now.”

“Hey, look, I’ve got this sports jacket on,” Paxton responded. “I love it.”

“Texas is a relatively casual place in the summer, and it’s hot, so we adjust,” he added. “We wear cowboy boots, and we wear a blazer, and we’re all good.”

Paxton went on to mention Trump’s upcoming “exciting” visit to Texas for the RNC’s two-day midterm convention in Dallas on Sept. 9 and 10. The event has already drawn attention over its timing — Trump and Vice President JD Vance’s keynote speeches will compete with the first two games of the NFL season — as well as its price tag, with candidates expected to donate a minimum of $25,000.

Campos-Duffy then asked about fundraising efforts, noting that Texas Democratic Senate candidate James Talarico’s campaign has “raked in $72 million,” compared to Paxton’s $17 million.

The Texas attorney general cited both his pricey primary fight against Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) and “a lot of money coming in [for Talarico] from California.”

Notably, both Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) and Fox News contributor Karl Rove have urged Trump this week to utilize his MAGA Inc. war chest to help Paxton, with Rove emphasizing, “Time is running out!”

“Well, look, we definitely need more help raising money,” the Republican candidate admitted to Campos-Duffy.

The Fox News host ended the segment by joking, “If you’re in a men’s suit shop and you run into Ken Paxton, you know he’s getting ready for President Trump to come next week.”
