Former Trump White House Lawyer Warns, ‘He Is Gonna Become Increasingly Desperate’

Ty Cobb, a former White House lawyer who served in President Donald Trump’s first administration, warned that Trump will “become increasingly desperate” as the midterms inch closer.

On Friday, Trump announced that he is banning CNN, MS NOW, and Politico from the White House, and suggested other media organizations may be next.

“Media Outlets shouldn’t be able to constantly write or report FICTION and LIES when they’re covering the President of the United States, the Trump Administration, or the United States of America,” Trump wrote on Truth Social, while promising, “Other Fake News Media Outlets to follow.”

The move has drawn bipartisan condemnation.

The president defended his decision during a contentious press gaggle in the Oval Office, where he slammed The New York Times and The Washington Post as “disgusting.”

A few hours after Trump announced the ban, which is of questionable legality, Cobb appeared on CNN’s OutFront, where host Erin Burnett asked about its timing.

“He’s been calling reporters ‘pigs‘ and so much more since the beginning. But this happened today. Today. So someone asked him, ‘Why today? Is there a reason?’ And he says, ‘No, no reason,'” Burnett said. “You worked with him. You knew him when you served in the White House. What do you think would prompt him to do something like this today?”

Cobb hypothesized that Trump is attempting to distract from the flurry of bad news for his administration and Republicans in general:

He’s been exposed as having petulantly threatened to destroy the Kennedy Center if he doesn’t get his name on it. His polls have hit a new low. He had to send his vice president to Kansas to campaign with a Republican sitting senator. In Kansas because Republicans are doing so badly. He is gonna become increasingly desperate as we get closer and closer to the midterms.

Keep in mind, this is a man who was willing to tolerate the hanging of his vice president on January 6th, 2021, in order to prevent the peaceful transfer of power. He wants to be a bully. He is a bully, and this is his chance to punch down on people at the end of a week where the courts and the facts beat him up pretty badly. I mean, it’s not fake news that gas is over $5 a gallon and diesel is closing in on seven. It’s not fake news that the Iran war is going badly and that the world is reeling. And it’s not fake news that Kash Patel had to eliminate bestiality as a characteristic that would have disqualified somebody from joining the FBI.

These are bad stories. These are bad people. And that news is gonna keep coming whether he likes it or not. But he didn’t like the way this week went. And he’s beating up on somebody so that it salves his narcissism going into the weekend.
