El-Sayed Boasts That Trump ‘Messing’ With Him Has Given Him a ‘Gigantic Platform’

Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed credited President Donald Trump with giving him a “gigantic platform,” should he win his election in the midterms.

While speaking at a campaign event on Tuesday, El-Sayed bragged that Trump’s criticism of him will only help him as a senator.

He said:

Trump is messing around and making me the front page or the main character of the midterms. You know what that comes with? That comes with, if I win, I now have a gigantic platform that they just gave me. And that allows me then to both move a conversation but also maneuver inside because I can move a conversion across. And I’m hoping, my job is to be able to take that, advocate, and then be able to come together and sit down with colleagues who are on the ground to think about how to solve problems.

Trump has publicly targeted El-Sayed multiple times, calling him a “radical left socialist” and claiming his election will be “rigged” months ahead of actual voting.

“The Communist, who is not liked in Detroit, is potentially in ‘Vote Counter’ trouble. The Radical Left Socialist has a real shot, and don’t discount all of those fake mail-in ballots that will ‘surprisingly’ show up at the last moment. Get ready for another Rigged Election,” he wrote on Truth Social after El-Sayed defeated Rep. Haley Stevens (D-MI) in their Democratic primary.

El-Sayed is running against Republican Mike Rogers.

El-Sayed has faced some bipartisan backlash for some of his progressive views, like his criticism of Israel’s government, as well as his association with far-left streamer Hasan Piker. El-Sayed has distanced himself from some of Piker’s views, but refused to fully condemn him. El-Sayed did disavow Piker’s past claim that the U.S. “deserved” the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Vice President JD Vance has also blasted El-Sayed multiple times leading into the midterms, suggesting he sees something “very, very evil” in the Democrat.

“You know, I was trying to understand what would motivate a person to say these things, what would motivate a person to do these things,” he said. “And I realized that there’s something about Abdul El-Sayed that is very, very evil and on the rise in the United States of America today.”
