CNN Panel Erupts in Laughter at MAGA Pundit’s Defense of Trump Sons’ Business Ventures: ‘Not a Good Hill to Die On’

A CNN panel erupted in laughter Wednesday night as MAGA pundit Jason Rantz attempted to defend the Trump family’s business ventures while ripping former First Lady Michelle Obama’s podcast, during which guest Jon Stewart accused the Trump brothers of profiteering.

The moment on CNN NewsNight came after host Abby Phillip played a clip of Stewart joking with Obama and her brother Craig Robinson about the Trump family’s business interests, telling her she “left money on the table” during her husband’s time in office.

“A Michelle meme coin,” Stewart joked on Obamas’ podcast. “You guys didn’t do a pump and dump. You could have had a weapons company. You could have sold missiles to yourself. Don and Eric have a drone company, I don’t even know what to say.”

“Apparently, a missed opportunity on the part of a lot of past presidents and first ladies,” Phillip quipped after the clip.

Rantz pushed back, arguing there was “somewhat” of an irony in Obama’s criticism on the podcast she hosts because of her former position.

“She’s not in government,” co-panelist Bakari Sellers interjected.

“She isn’t in government, and neither are Eric and Donald Trump,” Rantz replied. “I mean, look, this would be different if Donald Trump and his family didn’t come to it with the business background that he already had.”

Sellers immediately burst out laughing, with other panelists quickly joining him.

“They were in the real estate business. They were not in the rare Earth mineral business. They’re not in the drone business. They’re not in the bank business,” Phillip cut in.

Rantz responded with a jab at Hunter Biden’s painting projects: “Maybe Eric is a painter and he can sell those paintings. And everyone’s going to pretend that that was legit.”

“This is not a good hill to die on,” Sellers quipped.

“I’m not dying on the hill. I’m simply saying this is the reality,” Rantz replied.

Another panelist, Geraldo Rivera, broadened the discussion to voter anger over wealth, saying people in Ohio are frustrated by “rich people getting richer” and feel “like they’re getting jerked around.”

CNN commentator Paul Begala added: “And making money at your expense.”
